A GREAT HOSE...NO KINK
THIS IS A GREAT HOSE 130FT,FREE SHIPPING.. NEVER KINKS. I RECOMMEND THIS HOSE FOR THE LADIES,IT'S NOT HEAVY,EASY TO COIL.. THANKS TO THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS ON DIFFERENT SIZES OF NO KINK,I TOOK A CHANCE,GLAD I DID.

heavy hose and it kinks
bought hose because it is not supposed to kink which cuts off the water flow and requires backtracking to find and release the kink. it kinks especially in hot weather like any other hose. it is heavier than a plastic hose and harder to drag around the lot. more expensive than lighter weight hoses which never wore out so if this one dies not wear out it does not make it worth more money . the good points is it is longer and has solid brass fittings.Apex NeverKink 5/8-Inch-by-130-Foot Heavy Duty Reel Hose #8605-130

Good Hose But A disapointment
The best hose I ever bought was an Apex hose. It is a light green, matte-colored, soft man-made material (sort of like rubber) that doesn't seem to be affected by being left outdoors for the last 5 years. I love it because it is extremely limp, but as limp as it is it doesn't kink or collapse. Yet it also has no memory, It is the easiest of any hose I have ever had to coil. When you lay the hose down even after being coiled for a year it has no memory of those coils and lays perfectly straight.

So when I bought this hose I was expecting more of the same. Unfortunately that is not the case. While it is a good hose it doesn't match the old hose in quality. The new hose is a shiny dark green hard plastic that is very stiff and difficult to coil. For example, if I hold the end of the old hose and start feeding it out of my hand, it will remain horizontal for only about 6 inches before it begins to bend down. The new hose can be extended for almost 2 feet before it begins to sag down. Thats a stiff hose! This is a very undesirable characteristic in a garden hose.

But it works as advertised. It will not kink from ordinary use though it will kink if you work with short lengths (<3 feet). Also it has a memory. So as it comes off the reel it remembers where it was coiled and there are all these loops in the hose as it lays on the ground.

Bottom-line: its not nearly as good as the older Apex hose but its still better than any of the hoses I bought at a hardware store. So I bought another. Too bad nobody makes a really good hose anymore.

P.S. If I didn't have the old Apex hose to compare it to, I too would have given it 5 stars.
