2false advertising
By Dajmo
This compressor will probably work fine for standard car and bicycle tires. In fact, It seems it would work for most higher pressure tires like those on touring/racing bikes. However, if you buy this product because you saw the advertised 300 psi capacity and are one of the few who actually need it to perform above 180 psi, you will be disappointed. My own experience with the compressor involved using it to power a toy rocket that required air pressure to burst plastic discs to provide an impulse to propel the rocket. The compressor would level off at 180 psi and start smoking. The car engine was on and enough voltage was being supplied.
I think the 300 psi advertisement is considered a safe lie by the producers because most consumers won't require enough pressure to uncover the truth. Also, I don't think there are going to be many other compressors sold to work through the cigarette lighter that will achieve their advertised psi limit. 300 psi is a fairly bogus claim, however, considering that 180 is the actual limit. And the longevity of the compressor is suspect because after the initial 180 psi limit was discovered, it immediately started degrading on subsequent attempts.

1Unacceptably short lifetime!
By Richard Sonnenfeld
I have owned 4 of these. We live on a dirt road and frequently get slow-leaks from hidden
nails the car pulls out of the dirt. Accordingly, I asked for a compressor for Christmas
a few years back and my wife, bless her heart, bought one for her car, one for my car and a spare).
Filling up a car tire to a sufficient level to drive it to a repair shop takes 10-15 minutes,
and it is certainly convenient. However, on average these pumps lasted about six inflations. I bought
one more pump on the road because the other three were dead and I had another slow leak (and air pumps
at gas stations are few and far between ... have you noticed this?). The fourth pump lasted about
the same time as the other three. The failure mechanism is always the same -- they get flaky
and you have to wiggle the connector in the cigarette lighter, and then one day they just don't
start at all. I thought it was perhaps the connector, and I replaced one to no avail. It actually
seems to be the pump motor itself ... it just burns out after a very short life. Slime's pump is
not worse than others of this ilk. They seem to be all the same design, probably made in same
factory. They all use the same pump/motor assembly, and that's the problem.

I find it objectionable to keep sending my money to China and generating more garbage. I finally
bought the compressor I originally asked for, (a Porter Cable C2002-WK Pancake Compressor w/accessory Kit)
My research indicated it was built to last. So far, I like it a lot. So, if you accept
that you'll have to keep buying these or upgrade to something more substantial, go ahead
and get one, but frankly, I'm tired of manufacturers saving a buck on the engineering and selling
garbage.

3needs better design
By dauphin215
Purchased this for my husband because he needs a pump for his weekly guys pick-up basketball games and for our bicycles. The storage compartment doesn't hold everything once it's unraveled so that is annoying. Also, one of the plastic pieces wasn't designed well and snapped off inside the basketball and there wasn't a way to re-attach it. I don't know much about it, but my husband has been frustrated with it.
